TENDER NOTICE: INSTALLATION OF A 10MW RENEWABLE POWER SOURCE (SOLAR FARM) ON TORTOLA
Invitation to Tender
INSTALLATION OF A 10MW RENEWABLE POWER SOURCE (SOLAR FARM) ON TORTOLA
Background:
The British Virgin Islands Electricity Corporation (“the Employer”) is seeking qualified firms to submit a proposal to provide the island of Tortola in the Virgin Islands with a renewable power source capable of allowing for at least 10 MW of energy use by the island’s residential and commercial community daily.
The system will be tied to the British Virgin Islands Electricity Corporation’s power grid that currently exists on Tortola. Special consideration should be given to the BVI’s location in the tropical hurricane belt and it must be able to withstand category five hurricane-force winds.
The system must be able to produce peak load capacity within 24 hours after a severe weather event (hurricane) and must be in full operation at least six hours before the arrival of such an event. The Corporation will be open to various commercial arrangements ranging from outright procurement and purchase of the system by BVIEC, to a power purchase arrangement with an independent power producer.
The procurement method being used for this activity is National Competitive Bidding (NCB).
