PRESS RELEASE: BVIEC STANDS UNITED IN PINK FOR BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH 2026

Tortola, British Virgin Islands, October 30, 2026 — The BVI Electricity Corporation (BVIEC) proudly joined organisations and communities worldwide in recognising Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2026, as employees came together in a meaningful display of unity, strength, compassion and solidarity with those affected by breast cancer.

Observed annually throughout October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month serves as an important reminder of the need for greater public awareness, early detection, regular screening and continued support for individuals and families impacted by the disease.

As part of its recognition, BVIEC employees demonstrated their collective support by wearing pink, symbolising hope and solidarity with breast cancer survivors, individuals currently undergoing treatment, and those who have lost loved ones to the disease.

Beyond the symbolic gesture, the initiative reinforced the Corporation’s commitment to employee wellness, health education and fostering a supportive workplace culture, while encouraging greater awareness throughout the wider Virgin Islands community.

Breast cancer remains a significant global health concern, affecting millions of individuals and families. Early detection can improve treatment outcomes, making it essential for individuals to understand potential warning signs, seek appropriate medical advice and discuss recommended screening with healthcare professionals.

BVIEC encourages employees, customers and members of the public to remain proactive about their health, support those navigating a breast cancer diagnosis and continue conversations that help reduce stigma and promote awareness.

Through this initiative, the Corporation reaffirms that raising awareness is more than wearing pink; it is about inspiring action, extending compassion and standing together in support of those affected.
