Job Summary:
The People Culture & Talent Services Payroll Officer is responsible for ensuring the accurate, timely, and confidential processing of employee payroll, including salaries, benefits, and statutory deductions. The role ensures compliance with organizational policies, labour laws, and statutory regulations, while providing efficient payroll support to employees and management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process payroll for employees, including calculation of wages, overtime, benefits, and deductions.
- Ensure compliance with tax laws, labour regulations, statutory requirements, and internal payroll policies.
- Manage payroll schedules to ensure all deadlines are met accurately and on time.
- Maintain and update employee payroll information within payroll systems.
- Reconcile timesheets, attendance records, and other payroll inputs to ensure data accuracy.
- Ensure the secure handling, confidentiality, and integrity of payroll information.
- Prepare and submit statutory filings, including tax, social security, and national health insurance contributions.
- Generate payroll reports for management, audits, and financial planning purposes.
- Respond to employee enquiries regarding payslips, deductions, benefits, and tax-related matters.
- Provide guidance on payroll policies and assist employees with tax registrations and benefit changes.
- Ensure payroll records align with employee contracts, benefits, and personnel files.
- Assist with monthly payroll reconciliations and budget tracking activities.
- Support People Culture & Talent Services initiatives (including annual salary reviews and compliance audits).
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, accuracy, and efficiency.
- Assist with testing, upgrading, and implementing payroll systems and software.
- Train team members or new hires on payroll systems and compensation-related policies.
- Develop and maintain payroll contingency plans for system failures or emergency situations.
Qualifications:
- Education
- Associate degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field.
- Experience
- Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in payroll administration or a related accounting/payroll role.
- Skills
- Payroll processing and administration
- Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail
- Knowledge of payroll compliance, taxation, and statutory deductions
- Proficiency in payroll systems, HRIS, and Microsoft Excel
- Confidentiality and data security awareness
- Organizational and time‑management skills
- Problem‑solving and analytical skills
- Clear communication and employee support skills
Work Environment
- Office‑based work environment within the People Culture & Talent Services Department
- Occasional work outside normal hours during payroll cycles, emergencies, or operational needs
- Regular use of computers, payroll systems, and office applications
- Requires a high level of confidentiality and data security awareness
- Frequent interaction with employees, managers, and internal departments
- Designated as an essential services role during natural disasters, crises, or pandemics
Compensation
- Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
