TENDER NOTICE: DESIGN, SUPPLY AND INSTALLATION OF A 10 MW / 20 MWH BATTERY ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEM AT PWP STATION
Invitation to Tender
DESIGN, SUPPLY AND INSTALLATION OF A 10 MW / 20 MWh BATTERY ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEM (BESS) AT POCKWOOD POND POWER STATION
Background:
The British Virgin Islands Electricity Corporation (“the Employer”) is seeking qualified firms to submit a proposal for the Design, Supply and Installation of a 10 MW / 20 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at Pockwood Pond Power Station, Tortola, BVI. The existing generation fleet consists of nine (9) diesel generating sets – six rated at 5.5 MW and three rated at 8.5 MW – operating under a peak site load of approximately 33 MW. The system should be sized to exceed the capacity of the largest single generation asset (8.5 MVA), thereby securing the spinning reserve requirement of the island.
The Supplier is to be engaged as an EPC + Financing contractor to design, supply, construct, commission, and hand over a fully operational BESS with a nameplate rating of 10 MW / 20 MWh. The selected Contractor shall provide project financing as an integral part of the contract, on terms to be negotiated and agreed at contract award. The financing structure shall be clearly detailed in the Tenderer’s Financial Proposal.
The procurement method being used for this activity is International Competitive Bidding (ICB)
Site Visit
A Bidder’s Conference/Site Visit is to be held at the proposed site at Pockwood Pond on Thursday 13th August 2026 from 10:00 AM.
