BVIEC AWARDS GOLDEN TICKETS AT THE 2026 NATIONAL SCIENCE FAIR

Tortola, British Virgin Islands, March 27, 2026 — The British Virgin Islands Electricity Corporation (BVIEC) has awarded seven outstanding students with its prestigious Golden Ticket Award at the recently concluded 2026 National Science and Innovation Fair, recognizing their innovative energy-focused projects and commitment to shaping the future of sustainable power.

BVIEC’s Golden Ticket Award is designed to encourage and support future innovators in energy, offering unique opportunities for students to gain firsthand exposure to careers within the electricity and energy sector.

Junior category recipients were awarded a personalised private tour of BVIEC’s facilities, along with the opportunity to shadow any BVIEC professional for a day, regardless of department. Senior category recipients received a guaranteed placement in BVIEC’s highly sought-after annual paid internship programme.

Junior Category Recipients

In a remarkable showing, all junior Golden Ticket recipients came from Enis Adams Primary School:

Senior Category Recipients

The senior category winners represented two secondary schools:

St. George’s Secondary School

  • Qualik Lettsome Stapleton and Jeremiah Hermanstyne — Solar Water Heater

Elmore Stoutt High School

  • Martire Rodriguez and Amarissa McLaurent — Power from the Ocean

BVIEC General Manager, Dr. Neil Smith, congratulated the students and highlighted the importance of nurturing innovation at an early stage.
