BVIEC SHOCKERS CELEBRATE PRESIDENT’S DISTINGUISHED STATUS AT TOASTMASTERS’ GALA
Tortola, British Virgin Islands, June 26, 2025 — Members of the BVI Electricity Corporation (BVIEC) Shockers Toastmasters Club proudly joined fellow clubs from across the territory at the Toastmasters Clubs of the British Virgin Islands Gala and Installation & Awards Ceremony, held on Saturday, June 21, at Irene’s Rooftop Restaurant. The evening was a celebration of achievement, leadership, and the continued growth of the Toastmasters movement within the territory.
The event was hosted collaboratively by the BVIEC Shockers Toastmasters Club, the Virgin Islands Public Service Toastmasters Club, and the Tortola Toastmasters Club. The celebration also welcomed the Virgin Gorda Toastmasters Club—the newest addition to the Toastmasters family in the British Virgin Islands—highlighting the expanding reach and impact of the organisation.
President’s Distinguished Status Achieved in Record Time
A major highlight of the evening was the announcement that the BVIEC Shockers Toastmasters Club had successfully met all the criteria to attain President’s Distinguished Club status—the highest recognition given by Toastmasters International. The announcement was made during the Gala, and the status was officially conferred on Wednesday, June 25, 2025.
What makes this achievement particularly noteworthy is the remarkably short timeframe in which it was accomplished. The BVIEC Shockers Toastmasters Club was only chartered in February 2024, making it one of the youngest clubs in the territory at the time. To reach the highest level of recognition in less than 18 months is a powerful testament to the dedication, drive, and unity of its members.

Among the highlights of the evening was the recognition of outstanding members from the BVIEC Shockers Club for their commitment and progress over the past year.
- Shaundelle Leonard received the Club’s highest honour, Toastmaster of the Year, for her dedication, consistency, and exceptional service.
- Leslie Allen Jr. was named Most Improved Toastmaster, reflecting his growth, enthusiasm for learning, and meaningful contributions to the Club.

Installation of the 2025–2026 Executive Committee
