Job Summary:

To perform a variety of physically demanding tasks that support the Corporation in achieving its mission while ensuring a safe, clean, and comfortable environment. The role also contributes to maintaining the Corporation’s professional image through the proper upkeep and maintenance of buildings and surrounding grounds.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Keeping the Corporation’s compound clean; this includes:
   1. Pruning, watering and trimming of trees and plants;
   2. Cleaning driveways; and
   3. Cutting grass and raking leaves.
2. Painting around (and inside) the Corporation’s compound from time to time.
3. Ensuring that water is provided for all members of staff.
4. Receiving and storing all bathroom supplies.
5. Mopping and sweeping floors.
6. Changing light fixtures in the Corporation’s buildings.
7. Moving oil drums to burner area.
8. Assisting with cleaning up in the event of fuel or oil spillage.
9. Travelling to sister islands to perform duties on behalf of the Corporation.
10. Maintain professional working relationships with all BVIEC employees.
11. Be available/on-call to work outside normal hours as required.

Qualifications and Competencies:

1. Ability to read, write, and understand basic instructions and safety procedures.
2. Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
3. Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions, including indoor power station areas and outdoor locations exposed to heat and sunlight.
4. Basic knowledge of workplace safety practices would be an asset.
5. Good interpersonal skills and a positive work attitude.

Work Environment:

1. Work may be performed both indoors and outdoors, including within power station facilities and in outdoor environments exposed to heat, dust, noise and varying weather conditions.
2. May involve on-call and after hours works as needed;
3. May require travel to sister islands to perform duties on behalf of the Corporation;
4. As an essential services organization, BVIEC may require employees in this role to report to work or provide support during storms, emergencies, or other disaster‑related events, in accordance with established policies and safety protocols. Employees may also be required to perform other related duties as assigned.

Compensation

1. Entry level
2. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
