REOI: SOLAR INSTALLERS FOR THE SOLAR TECHNOLOGY ENERGY PROGRAMME (S.T.E.P.)

Request for Expressions of Interest
Solar installers for the Solar Technology Energy Programme (S.T.E.P.)
Background:
The Solar Technology Energy Programme (S.T.E.P.) is a government initiative by the Ministry of Communications and Works and the British Virgin Islands Electricity Corporation (BVIEC) designed to install grid-tied home solar systems with no upfront equipment or installation costs. Systems will operate alongside the regular BVIEC power grid, allowing participating homeowners to earn credits for excess energy exported to the grid. The benefits include lower electricity bills by up to 50% once the setup cost is fully paid off, and clean energy which cuts the territory’s reliance on imported fossil fuels and supports cleaner energy goals.
BVIEC now invites eligible firms (Solar Installers) to indicate their interest in participating in the Corporation’s Solar Technology Energy Programme (STEP). Interested firms should provide information demonstrating that they have the required qualifications and relevant experience to perform the Services including at a minimum:
- National American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) associate certification or Equivalent.
- Trade License from the BVI Department of Trade
- A Licensed electrician on the Team, with demonstrated experience in grid-tied solar PV installations.
Expressions of interest must be emailed to the procurement team at:procurement@bvielectriciy.com
