BVIEC PROUD TO INSPIRE FUTURE PROFESSIONALS AT HLSCC CAREER FAIR

Tortola, British Virgin Islands, April 17, 2025 — The British Virgin Islands Electricity Corporation (BVIEC) was proud to participate in the third annual H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC) Career Fair, held under the inspiring theme “Empowering Today’s Leaders for Tomorrow.” The event brought together students from across the Territory with leading institutions and businesses, offering insight into a variety of career pathways.

BVIEC was represented by a dynamic team including Symorne Penn – Deputy General Manager, Kelvin Eubanks – Information Technology Manager, Kamal Haynes – Public Relations and Marketing Media Manager, Keanna Baronville – People, Culture and Talent Services (PCTS) Administrative Assistant, and Delight Charles – PCTS Officer. The team was delighted to engage directly with students who visited the booth, sharing insights on the range of career opportunities available within the Corporation and the energy sector at large.

As a key partner in national development, BVIEC fully aligns with the Career Fair’s theme and remains committed to empowering the next generation of professionals.

Mr. Kelvin Eubanks highlighted the Corporation’s forward-thinking approach and need for succession planning, stating:

“We just want to show that here at BVIEC, we have a lot of things that people can do. People can start a career and be successful within the Corporation. As far as IT is concerned, we are looking to be at the forefront of technology to ensure we provide the best services for all of our customers. With my department, there are several career opportunities that young persons can fulfil.”

Keanna Baronville also reflected on the students’ enthusiasm and potential, adding:

“They are opportunists, they are looking for growth and I feel that with how BVIEC is working to future-proof, we can give them the opportunity they’re looking for. Some of them are in the engineering field, some want to be electricians, some are interested in finance — all areas where we have viable career paths.”

BVIEC is currently hiring for several positions, including Planning Officer, Linesmen, Scanning Clerk Supervisor, Mechanics, and Cable Jointer, as the Corporation continues to invest in its people to ensure a sustainable and innovative energy future.

The Career Fair provided a meaningful platform for dialogue, mentorship, and inspiration, reinforcing BVIEC’s vision of shaping a workforce that will lead the Territory into a resilient and energy-secure future.
