BVIEC JOINS THE FIGHT AGAINST CANCER AT 14TH ANNUAL CIBC CARIBBEAN WALK FOR THE CURE

Tortola, British Virgin Islands, October 28, 2025 — The BVI Electricity Corporation (BVIEC) proudly joined the 14th Annual CIBC Caribbean Walk for the Cure on Saturday, October 25, in solidarity with hundreds of participants supporting the ongoing fight against cancer in the British Virgin Islands.
A total of 19 BVIEC staff members participated in the early-morning walk, which began at 5:30 a.m. at the CIBC Caribbean branch in Road Town. The route took participants along the scenic coastal stretch to Sea Cow’s Bay and back — a journey marked by camaraderie, reflection, and a shared commitment to raising awareness and funds for cancer research and patient support across the territory.
Occupational Health and Safety Technician JaneAnne Phipps, who played a key role in coordinating BVIEC’s participation, expressed her gratitude for the enthusiasm shown by the team.
“It was truly inspiring to see so many of our colleagues come out to support this important cause,” said Phipps. “Cancer has touched so many lives within our community, and taking part in events like this helps remind us of the power of unity and compassion. I’m proud that BVIEC continues to stand with others in promoting health, wellness, and hope.”
BVIEC’s Public Relations and Marketing Media Manager, Kamal Haynes, also commended the efforts of the employees and emphasised the Corporation’s ongoing commitment to community engagement.
“Our participation in the Walk for the Cure reflects BVIEC’s deep-rooted commitment to the people of the Virgin Islands,” Haynes said. “Beyond powering the Territory, we believe in strengthening the communities we serve. Supporting this initiative is one small but meaningful way to contribute to the fight against cancer and to honour those whose lives have been affected by it.”
The CIBC Caribbean Walk for the Cure is one of the region’s largest cancer fundraising events, with proceeds going toward awareness, screening, and treatment initiatives. BVIEC’s participation underscores the Corporation’s ongoing dedication to promoting employee wellness and supporting charitable causes that make a lasting impact in the Virgin Islands community.
