BVIEC ANNOUNCES PHASED TRANSITION TO PAPERLESS BILLING
Tortola, British Virgin Islands, January 15, 2026 — The British Virgin Islands Electricity Corporation (BVIEC) will transition to paperless billing using a phased approach, beginning February 16, 2026, as part of our ongoing efforts to improve service delivery, operational efficiency and customer convenience.
Under the first phase of the initiative, effective February 16, 2026, printed electricity bills will no longer be issued routinely. Printed bills will only be provided for specific official purposes, including proof of address, banking requirements, matters related to the Financial Services Commission, and legal matters.
The second phase of the initiative will take effect on April 1, 2026. From that date, printed bills will be discontinued entirely and will only be available upon request at a cost of $5.00 per bill.
Why the move to paperless?
The transition to paperless billing supports faster customer service, reduced paper waste, and improved customer convenience. Digital billing allows customers to access their account information more quickly, reduces delays associated with printed mail, and supports BVIEC’s commitment to more efficient and environmentally responsible operations.
BVIEC also reminds customers that a printed bill is not required to make a payment.
What is required when paying in person?
Customers paying in person may do so by providing their BVIEC account number or by presenting a copy of a previous bill. These options ensure that payments can continue to be made smoothly without the need for a current printed bill.
How can customers sign up to receive E-Bills?
Customers may sign up to receive electronic bills by ensuring that their email address is registered with BVIEC’s customer service department. Customers who are already registered in BVIEC’s system automatically receive their bills via email each month. Assistance with registration is available at BVIEC offices.
Customers may also register online at https://payment.bvielectricity.com/ to view or pay their bill.
Acting Corporate Services Manager Melony James said the transition is designed to improve service while maintaining accessibility.
“This move to paperless billing allows us to better serve our customers by improving efficiency and reducing delays, while still ensuring that customers have multiple ways to access their account information and make payments,” Ms. James said.
Public Relations and Marketing Media Manager Kamal Haynes noted that the phased approach provides customers with clarity and flexibility.
“The phased rollout allows customers the time they need to adjust, while ensuring transparency and continued support throughout the transition. Our focus is on clear communication and customer confidence,” Mr. Haynes said.
BVIEC also wishes to assure customers that Senior Citizens will not be impacted by this initiative. Senior customers will continue to receive a printed bill upon request at no additional cost.
The Corporation encourages customers to familiarise themselves with the upcoming changes ahead of the February 16, 2026 implementation date and to contact BVIEC’s customer service team with any questions or concerns.
For further information, customers may contact BVIEC directly or visit the Corporation’s official communication channels.
