JOB VACANCY

 The BVI Electricity Corporation (“BVIEC”) is currently seeking a passionate, results driven, meticulous, adaptable and highly motivated individual to fill the vacant position of Human Resource Officer, Talent Management, HR Department.  The Human Resource Officer should have good time management skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.

  1. OBJECTIVES OF THE ROLE:

 The HR Officer, Talent Management, is responsible for assisting with attracting, developing, and retaining top talent within the organization. Key objectives include assistance with implementing effective recruitment strategies, ensuring smooth onboarding processes, facilitating performance management and employee development programs, enhancing employee engagement, and developing retention strategies. This role aims to build a skilled, motivated, and satisfied workforce, contributing to the overall success and growth of the organization.

  1. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

 Associate’s degree in Human Resource, Business Administration, or a related field, with eight (8) or more years’ experience as an Administrative Officer or Human Resource Officer or similar role reporting directly to an Assistant Human Resource Manager or Human Resource Manager; or

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource, Business Administration, or a related field, with five (5) or more years of experience as an Administrative Officer or Human Resource Officer or similar role reporting directly to an Assistant Human Resource Manager or Human Resource Manager.
  1. PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES AND COMPETENCIES:
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and an aptitude for learning new software and systems;
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills;
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills;
  • Ability to organize and coordinate multiple projects;
  • Flexible team player and willing to adapt to changes;
  • Ability to show discretion/diplomacy;
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and strict confidentiality of information related to BVIEC, its employees and other key stakeholders;
  • Full understanding of HR functions (recruitment, training, orientation and succession planning) and best practices.
  • Ability to engage in meaningful negotiation and resolution.
  1. SALARY:

The entry level range is Grade 5 which is in the salary scale of $36,000.00 – $60,691.00 per annum. Salary will be determined commensurate with qualification and experience.

  1. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILTIES:
  • Administers the organization’s recruitment, selection and retention plans to ensure that the recruitment process is conducted efficiently and cost effectively, in accordance with the organization’s policies/procedures and best practices;
  • Maintains up to date listing of vacancies and monitors effectiveness in filling vacancies within specified timeframes;
  • Assists in the preparation of advertisements, web postings, information for external recruitment agencies to ensure potential job applicants have information needed to make a decision;
  • Assists in coordinating Interview Panels and arranging interviews, testing and reference checks;
  • Assists in partnering with external agencies and other professional bodies to attract competent resources ensuring that a pool of qualified candidates is readily available;
  • Contributes to training effectiveness and return on investment by assisting in the dissemination/ application of lessons derived from training and the evaluation of training activities and providers;
  • Supports organizational effectiveness by monitoring and reporting on the performance management system;
  • Assists with organizing all seminars, workshops and the budgetary training plan for each department;
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of a highly effective orientation program that emphasizes the critical importance and value of welcoming and integrating new employees into the Corporate Culture;
  • Maintains a good working relationship with all employees of the Corporation;
  • Any other duties as assigned from time to time within your competence.
