Applications are invited from suitably qualified Candidates to fill the position of SENIOR MECHANIC – Generation Department.


The successful applicant should:

  • Possess the minimum of a High School Diploma.
  • Possess CARILEC Diesel Mechanic Level 1, 2 and 3 Certificate.
  • Possess a Wartsila Mechanical Training Certificate
  • Have at least five (5) years working experience in a similar capacity in power generation with some electrical utility background.
  1. SALARY:

Salary will be determined commensurate with qualification and experience.


  1. Perform all mechanical work at the power station, including the seawater pump house, reserve osmosis system, oily water treatment system, the fire auxiliaries and fuel and lube oil purification system.
  2. Perform preventative and corrective maintenance and services on engines and auxiliary equipment.
  3. Maintain, troubleshoot and ensure the safe and continuous operation of all engines and their respective air intake systems, fuel systems, oil systems, compressed air systems, cooling water systems, exhaust gas systems and electrical systems.
  4. Perform scheduled overhauls on engines and auxiliary equipment and provide reports on data gathered during overhaul.
  5. Inspect work areas and equipment on a daily basis to ensure safety standards are met.
  6. Assist with the completion of all tasks on a daily work permit, the defect report card and the work order forms.
  7. Assist with maintaining the mechanic workshop area, ensuring that all tools are returned to the designated location in a clean orderly fashion.
  8. Check separator oil, governor oil, compressor oil and fuel system daily.
  9. Being available/on call to work outside normal working hours.
